About the winery
A noble villa from the 1700s located on a 25-hectare estate, Monaci delle Terre Nere is a unique and magical place where nature and man live in harmony. The estate boasts a rich vineyard that offers the fantastic experience of tasting the wine produced on site. The land is worked by hand using only organically grown grapes, without the use of pesticides, fungicides, herbicides, or synthetic or chemical fertilizers. The spontaneous herbs growing in the vineyard are important as they help oxygenate and nourish the soil. The estate uses clones of these native grape varieties to produce not only DOC wines from Mount Etna but also a wine made from pre-phylloxera grapevines, relics of Mount Etna. The grapes are harvested exclusively by hand, selecting the best grapes first in the vineyard and then in the cellar.
