About the winery

In 1435, the "Maestranza dei Vigneri" was established in Catania. This important association of winegrowers, operating on Mount Etna, laid the foundations for a wine-making profession in which the producers themselves were the main protagonists. After 500 years, I Vigneri is now an active company on Mount Etna and in Eastern Sicily. The I Vigneri company owns vineyards located in three areas of the volcano. EAST SLOPE: In the Caselle district, Milo 750 S.L.M. the white grape varieties Carricante and Minnella are grown. NORTH SLOPE: In the Porcarìa district (Feudo di Mezzo) 550 S.L.M., Passopisciaro, Castiglione di Sicilia, the black grape varieties Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio, and Granache are grown. NORTHWEST SLOPE: In the Nave district, Bronte, on a small vineyard parcel at 1300 m S.L.M. we grow Granache, Minella nera, Greganico, Minella Bianca, and other unknown varieties.
